Meet Nicole: finding her core (and her calm) with Barre
Meet Nicole – a teacher from Canada who’s all about family, her golden retriever, and sneaking in as much piano time as she can. With a background in ballet, she was instantly drawn to Barre for the mindfulness, breathwork, and that elegant, feminine feel (plus she’s a fan of all the pink on the platform 💕). She fits in around four classes a week, often with her dog snoozing nearby, and says the combo of Barre and yoga has her feeling clearer in her mind and stronger through her core. One of the biggest changes she’s noticed is her posture at the piano – she can now sit tall and supported for hours. Whether it’s heading back to basics in the prenatal section, getting a ballet-inspired burn, or moving to her favourite instrumental playlist, Nicole has well and truly made Barre her happy place.
Let’s get to know her better;
1. What’s your daily life like? I'm a teacher in Canada and absolutely love what I do! I live with my husband and golden retriever. We spend a lot of time together and with our family - especially our nephews!
2. What made you decide to try Barre, and how did you find The Barre Coach? Movement has always been important to me. I did ballet for years as a child and still love that world. Barre brings the mindfulness and breath to the movement that I crave. I found The Barre Coach online and fell in love with the platform. I appreciate all the teaching about breath and pelvic floor health. The 'Sync with your cycle' section is lovely to listen to allow you to listen to your body. It's also simply such a feminine and elegant looking platform. I love all of the pink!
3. How do Barre classes fit into your weekly routine and how do you stay motivated? I try to do Barre at least 4 times a week - even if it's just a short one! I love my yoga practice as well and the two are very complimentary. My mind is so much more clear and I'm already feeling a stronger core. My dog loves doing Barre with me. Seeing her asleep on her pillow while I take some time for myself makes me incredibly motivated and grateful.
4. What’s been the biggest change you’ve noticed since starting Barre? I feel better overall and I finally feel that I'm understanding the true importance of my core. I'm a big piano player and honestly that has been a big one of the biggest changes I've noticed. I'm able to support sitting on the piano bench with great posture for long periods of time!
5. Do you have a favourite class or type of workout? I'm not pregnant nor am I prenatal, however, I love going back to the basics in that section of the platform. They allow me to get back to my centre and really focus on my breathing. The ballet inspired section is also so much fun!
6. What’s your workout “must-have” (favourite leggings, playlist, or post-class snack)? I have a great instrumental piano playlist that I put on in the background. It combines two of my loves!
7. What would you say to someone thinking about joining The Barre Coach? It's a beautiful platform with such a wonderful teacher. Gen is passionate and very clear in her instruction. I simply love her classes and really look forward to them!
