Each of us will have a different relationship with fitness prior to pregnancy, during pregnancy and once our little one is here. Your mental and physical needs will also change throughout your journey to motherhood. Finding the right way of moving for each stage of the journey is the best way to have a safe and strong pregnancy, delivery and postpartum recovery.
There’s lots of information available about what you should and shouldn’t be doing at each stage of your pregnancy and that’s normally broken down to be trimester specific. Yes, there absolutely is guidance that we want to take into account to make sure we’re keeping you and your baby safe. But there’s also SO much we can be doing when it comes to movement to support you on this journey. I want to help you feel confident that you can use movement as a tool to have a strong and safe pregnancy, delivery and postpartum recovery.
One of my priorities with the Bump & Beyond Movement Series is to help you feel more connected with your body. To help you understand what it feels like to move in a way that feels good and to notice, at what point you might feel you need to make some changes to movement to make them feel more comfortable for you.
Learning about the changes that are happening to our bodies and understanding how to work with them will help us build the strongest possible foundation for continued movement that feels good. Your fitness prior to pregnancy, your ability to stay moving during pregnancy, whether or not this is your first / second / third pregnancy are all factors that will impact the stage at which you’ll want to start modifying. The quicker and more significantly our bodies change, the more we will want to modify movements to support those changes.
With this in mind, you’ll find that the Bump & Beyond Movement Series isn’t broken down into trimester specific exercises. Instead, your membership starts with a complimentary 1:1 session so we can discuss tailored workout recommendations that feel right for you at every stage of your pregnancy. From there, the focus is about teaching you to connect with your body. Teaching you to move in a way that feels great for you. Teaching you how to build the strongest possible foundation and giving you the knowledge to understand when you might need to start making changes to movements to make them feel more comfortable for you.
There aren’t any specific timelines that can tell you how movement will feel for you at each stage of your pregnancy. It’s about connecting to your body, becoming aware of when something no longer feels good and understanding how we can make adaptations to movements to make them feel better for you.
